I thought this would be an ironic TTT for me to participate in, as I am infamous for avoiding lengthy books. And yet, one of my favourite books of all time is probably also the longest book I’ve ever read.
- 692 pages: Stripped: Depeche Mode by Jonathan Miller
- 699 pages: Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke
- 709 pages: House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
- 736 pages: Doctor Who: The Writer’s Tale by Russell T. Davies and Benjamin Cook
- 784 pages: Brisingr by Christopher Paolini
- 849 pages: Inheritance by Christopher Paolini (I guess these are some of the thickest books on my shelves)
- 894 pages: The Lord of the Rings: A Reader’s Companion by Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull (I don’t remember this one being that long…)
- 925 pages: 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami (I groaned when I saw this, haha, I almost regret reading the entire thing)
- 938 pages: The History of the Hobbit by John D. Rateliff (I read this one in nightly increments back in 2012)
- 1,216 pages: The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (no surprise here)
I haven’t even read 10 books longer than 700 pages!? 😂 Well, I think anything longer than 450 pages is too long… I expected The Lord of the Rings to top the list. I didn’t realize the Paolini books and Inkdeath are as long as they are.
What’s the longest book you’ve ever read? Do you prefer longer or shorter stories?
