2021 Releases | Middle Grade | Owned Books
Welcome to my final post for Unread November. Find the details here. tl;dr on Sundays in November I’m posting about books I didn’t read this year. Today’s post reviews TBR lists from 2020 all the way back to 2015.
I’ve formatted this list differently from the past three. Each section looks at a TBR post I wrote previously on the blog, starting with the most recent. I note which titles I’ve read (or DNF’d or removed from my TBR, though I’m not bothering to distinguish that). I then chose titles that remain (relatively) high-interest on my TBR and haven’t been featured on a previous Unread November list.
My Spooky Season TBR (Oct. 2020)

- I have read 4/12 titles
- Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
- Into the Tall, Tall Grass Loriel Ryon
- On These Magic Shores by Yamile Saied Méndez
- The Water Bears by Kim Baker
My TBR for a Thanksgiving Readathon (Oct. 2019)
- I have read 9/10 titles
- Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa

- A Guide to Being Born by Ramona Ausubel
- The Surface Breaks by Louise O’Neill
- Karluk by William Laird McKinlay
- A History of Children’s Books in 100 Books by Roderick Cave and Sara Ayad
- Ooh, that’s the first book I feel a bit bad about not having read. I asked for and received it as a Christmas gift three years ago.)
Reading Middle Grade in 2019 (Jan. 2019)
- I have read 14/18 titles
- Begone the Raggedy Witches by Celine Kiernan
Books I Haven’t Read by My Favourite Authors (Sept. 2018)
I have read 0/10! Hah. I’m not going to list them. You can check out the post if you’re curious. There’s absolutely no pressure with the books on this list because they’re all backlist titles by well-known authors. They’re not going anywhere and they don’t need a ‘publicity’ boost.
Recent Middle Grade Fantasy/Speculative Fiction TBRs (Jun. 2017)
- I have read 4/10 titles
- In Darkling Wood by Emma Carroll
- A Single Stone by Meg McKinlay
- The Doll’s Eye by Marina Cohen
- (Bone Jack also makes another appearance on this list 😅)
2016 Releases I Didn’t Get to (Jan. 2017)
- I have read 7/10 titles
- The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig
- The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle by Janet Fox
- The Last Days of New Paris by China Miéville
Recent TBR (Jan. 2016)
- I have read 3/7 titles
- Diving Belles by Lucy Wood
- Drown by Esther Dalseno
Jumping Into January (Library Book Haul) (Jan. 2016)
- I have read 10/13 titles
- Of Bees and Mist by Erick Setiawan
Foodies Read (Jan. 2015)
- I have read 4/9 titles
- Sous Chef by Michael Gibney
- Cooking for Geeks by Jeff Potter
- Salt, Sugar, Fat by Michael Moss
- This is a candidate for ‘book I’ve borrowed from the library most times without actually reading’.
Which of these titles would you prioritize? What are some books that have been on your TBR for awhile that you’d still like to get to?
