Gently easing myself back into blogging with this tag I saw almost a year ago on Annemieke’s blog A Dance with Books. Originally created by booktuber Keeping Tabs.

Do you have a book with deckled edges? The Icarus Girl by Helen Oyeyemi. Apparently deckled edges are controversial, but I love them!

Do you have a book with three or more people on the cover? The Girl Who Raced Fairyland All the Way Home by Catherynne M. Valente (one of the handful of books I have with people on the cover)

Do you have a book based on another fictional story? Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore (loose Swan Lake retelling)

Do you have a book with a title 10 letters long? Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

Do you have a book with a title that starts and ends with the same letter? A Guide to the Birds of East Africa by Nicholas Drayson

Do you have a mass market paperback book? Just one, purchased while living in Japan: The Scar by China Miéville

Do you have a book with a character’s name in the title? The Evolution of Alice by David A. Robertson

Do you have a book with two maps in it? The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien has precisely two 🙂

Do you have a book that was turned into a TV show? A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (I have the original hardcovers.)

Do you have a book written by someone who is originally famous for something else? The Dumpling Galaxy Cookbook by Helen You, owner of a restaurant in Flushing’s Chinatown.

Do you have a poetry book? Again, just one – The Pocket Haiku translated by Sam Hamill that I carry with me.

Do you have a book with an award stamp on it? The Gospel According to Jesus Christ by José Saramago

Do you have a book written by an author with the same initials as you? Looking for Alaska by John Green

Do you have a book of short stories? The Dodecahedron by Paul Glennon

Do you have a book that is between 500 and 510 pages long? I had to search a bit, but my paperback edition of The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien edited by Humphrey Carpenter is 502 pages including the index.

Do you have a book that was turned into a movie? The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Do you have a graphic novel? I left my small graphic novel collection at my parents’ house because I have no room for them here. I do have some manga. Yotsub&! brings me a lot of joy.

Do you have a book written by two or more authors? Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
The original tag consists of 20 questions. There are two books I don’t have: a book with a clock on the cover (many of the books I own have abstract cover designs) and a book written by someone using a pen name.
This tag was a fun opportunity to browse my shelves and look at my books from a new angle. I tag anyone who thinks this would be a fun exercise!

Seems challenging but looks fun.
I knew a few of the answers off the top of my head but it did take some time. I can imagine it would take longer for anyone who has more books than I do!
I love it! I’m totally going to do this for my blog!
Thank-you! I didn’t know you have a blog :O I will check it out.
Oh, this seems like a fun tag! I haven’t seen this one before. I can actually come up with answers for a lot of these off the top of my head, so I just might have to do this one.
I would love to see it if you do! Then I’ll feel like I’ve helped bring this tag back to life haha.
Yes I thought this one was a lot of fun too to look at your shelves a little differently.
Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
I’ll have to see what’s on my shelves at home but I feel like I’d have trouble coming up with one for each!
There are a lot of prompts! It does help if you have a +100 books to choose from.
Wow, an impressive collection! I probably don’t have about a half of that 😀
Thank-you~ My book collection grows a little more each year…
