Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is Most Anticipated Books Releasing in the First Half of 2023. After I completed this list, I said “Wait… where is the newest Wayward Children book??” I don’t add Wayward Children to my TBR because in my mind it is so obvious I will read each new release in the series ASAP – I don’t need to add it to Goodreads to remember! So Seanan McGuire’s Lost in the Moment and Found (out today) goes without saying.
- Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett (Jan 10 – adult historical fantasy)
- Adult debut from an author whose middle grade book The Language of Ghosts I greatly enjoyed
- Izzy at the End of the World by K.A. Reynolds (Feb 21 – middle grade speculative fiction)
- The House that Whispers by Lin Thompson (Feb 28 – middle grade contemporary)
- She is a Haunting by Tranh Trang Tan (Feb 28 – young adult horror)
- Turtles of the Midnight Moon by Maria Jose Fitzgerald (Mar 14 – middle grade magical realism)
- Hamra and the Jungle of Memories by Hanna Alkaf (Mar 28 – middle grade fantasy)
- My most anticipated title off this list! I adored The Girl and Her Ghost, Alkaf’s middle grade debut from 2020, and can’t wait to pick up her next middle grade.
- Jude Saves the World by Riley Ronnie (Apr 18 – middle grade contemporary)
- The Song of Us by Kate Fussner (May 30 – middle grade contemporary)
- Skating on Mars by Caroline Huntoon (May 30 – middle grade contemporary)
- A Season Most Unfair by J. Anderson Coats (Jun 20 – middle grade historical)
- I finally read The Green Children of Woolpit last summer. Even though this book doesn’t have a fantasy element, I’m keen to read more medieval setting from Coats.
Which 2023 releaseas are you looking forward to between now and June?

All good picks! I really loved Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries, it was such a good read!
Good to know! It’ll probably be ages before my library gets a copy but I imagine it would make a nice spring read…
Hmm…Jude Saves the World…and Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries…I like the sound of these.
I have been hearing a lot of good buzz around EMILY WILDE!
I’m almost finished with Emily Wilde, it’s delightful! And I’m very excited for She is a Haunting. Great list!
Everyone I’ve seen so far who has read EMILY WILDE has loved it, so I’m getting excited to pick it up!
Oooh, THE HOUSE THAT WHISPERS looks creepy and fun! I hadn’t heard of it before, so thanks for the heads-up. I hope you enjoy all these.
Happy TTT!

Thanks so much! I really enjoyed Thompson’s debut, so THE HOUSE THAT WHISPERS is one I will definitely be picking up.
I want to read She Is a Haunting, too.

I only recently heard of it via someone else’s blog! The cover gives me creeps, haha.
These look very fun!
Yes, always so many fun MG titles to enjoy 🙂
Ooh, thank you! Lots of authors I like with new books I didn’t know they had coming out!! I’m with you on being excited to read more from Hanna Alkaf, for one!
You’re welcome 😄 I think HAMRA should be on all MG enjoyers’ TBR!
These all look great! Love middle grade books – especially if I can share then with my daughter!
These are some of the books I am most looking forward to this year.
That’s awesome that you read MG with your kid! Looks like we’ll have lots of great MG to enjoy this year 🙂
I hope you enjoy all of these when they come out!

Thanks for stopping by 🙂
🙂
These look wonderful, I’m looking forward to reading Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy by Angie Thomas.
Thanks Brenda! I don’t think NIC BLAKE is my kind of middle grade, but I do think it’s pretty cool that we’re getting a MG title from Angie Thomas.
Oooh definitely putting some of these middle grade books on my radar!
Love to hear that! 😄
Oh I really enjoy K.A. Reynolds’ writing, I hadn’t heard of this one. She always writes such fantastical stories with great mental illness rep for kids
I own THE LAND OF YESTERDAY but still haven’t read anything by Reynolds 😅 That will have to change this year!
Emily Wilde is so good <3
I have yet to hear any negative thing about it! I just requested my library purchase it (can’t believe we don’t already have it on order, given the author is Canadian… 🙄).
