Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is Books I Hope That Santa Brings/Bookish Wishes. I spent a good amount of time yesterday (Dec 23) drafting a post for today, “X Posts to Get to Know Me as a Blogger”. Then I realized I had essentially already done that earlier this year in “A Falling Letters Timeline“, where I listed my favourite posts by year 🫠
So instead I have decided to participate in this week’s TTT. Usually, I have about half a dozen books on my Christmas wishlist, the majority being books I have already read and know I love. Gifts received for Christmas and then my birthday a couple months later are the main ways I grow my book collection. This year, I also drew up a broader (ie books I haven’t read yet) wishlist for The Broke and Bookish’s Secret Santa, so I have included below some titles (#6-10) from that list as well.
- Babel by RF Kuang
- Read and reviewed in 2023, this is a book I would like to have on my shelves.
- Tidal Creatures (Alchemical Journeys #3) by Seanan McGuire
- I was pretty shocked a month or two ago when I noticed I don’t actually have a copy of this! I could have sworn I preordered one…
- Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear (Wayward Children #10) by Seanan McGuire
- A preorder of the newest Wayward Children book has been a staple of my Christmas wishlist for the past few years
- Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher
- I can see Kingfisher becoming a staple on my shelves (last Christmas, I received Nettle & Bone.)
- Pity, Power, and Tolkien’s Ring: To Rule the Fate of Many by Thomas P. Hillman
- I am keen to acquire a copy of this book by a fellow blogger!
- Tolkien’s Modern Reading: Middle-earth Beyond the Middle Ages by Holly Ordway
- Another Tolkien title from the TBR
- The Wordhord: Daily Life in Old English by Hana Videen
- I added this non-fiction title to the list to mix things up and cos I’d probably have to ILL it if I wanted to read it
- Wînipêk: Visions of Canada from an Indigenous Centre by Niigan Sinclair
- Essay collection using my hometown as a focal point for discussion on the reality of Indigenous life across the country
- Whale Fall by Elizabeth O’Connor
- Historical fiction (remote Welsh island in the late 1930s)
- All the Murmuring Bones by A.G. Slater
- Historical fiction (horror? dark fairy tale? with mermaids! or something…)
Merry Christmas! 🎄❄🎅🏻

I really should read Babel sometime. It sounds good.
