Well, June just flew by! Work was busy, as I did a lot of planning and promotion for the library’s summer programming as well as running three days of Maker Week activities (immensely successfully, in part due to rainy weahter), a resume workshop (it was the first workshop I’ve ever done…), and twice weekly story times (getting better each time!). Although there’s lots to do at work, work stays at work. (Unlike university, in which I come home and spend my hours on academic reading and writing.) This means I’ve been able to devote more time than ever to reading and blogging, reflected in the 10 posts I published in June. (I had 11 posts but one was just a notice, now deleted, that I now have a WordPress follow button for you to use if you like 👀).Follow Falling Letters on WordPress.com
I will keep up the momentum through the rest of the summer, as I already have 11 posts outlined for July. I’ll discuss more about my reading progress in my mid-year check in post on July 3.
“I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read That Yet” July Selection
The votes are in and I’ll be reading…well, would you believe there was a tie? I wasn’t expecting that, haha – five votes each for Saga Vol. 1 and The Lottery. I asked my sister to break the tie. She voted for Saga. I’ve put a request in for it at the library. Thanks to everyone who voted!

Upcoming in July
- All month – July Commenting Challenge hosted by Lonna @ FLYLēF and Alicia @ A Kernel of Nonsense. This is my first time participating in the challenge. I had seen it in previous years but had misunderstood what it was about, so I wasn’t interested. This year, I actually paid attention and decided it would be fun to participate (bloggers are paired up and comment on each other’s blogs). My partner is Ashley @ Inside My Minds.
- 10 Jul. – Publication of Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (FINALLYYYYYY it’s almost here *-*. Let’s hope my preorder arrives in a timely fashion.)
- 24 Jul. – Publication of Nightbooks by J.A. White (magical, spooky middle grade)
- 31 Jul. – Publication of The Land of Yesterday by K.A. Reynolds (also spooky middle grade – both of these books are marketed to fans of Coraline, cos that’s the only spooky middle grade worth comparing a book to 🙄)
What books, or bookish events, are you looking forward to this month?
