Hosted by Sofia @ Bookish Wanderess and Allie @ Allie with Books. Latinx Book Bingo highlights books written by Latinx authors in celebration of Latinx Heritage Month 2020. My goal is to read three books from this list. I’m focusing on Jan. – Sept. 2020 releases because there are a lot I haven’t got to yet! It has been a challenge to keep up with and even obtain new releases from the library this year. *deletes long rambling paragraph explaining why* But my turn with the ebook of Mexican Gothic has finally come and I bought a copy of What if a Fish, so I’ll get to at least those.
2020 Latinx Releases on my TBR
- Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (adult gothic fiction)
- Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas (YA paranormal)
- Miss Meteor by Tehlor Kay Mejia and Anna-Marie McLemore (YA contemporary)
- Into the Tall, Tall Grass by Loriel Ryan (MG magical realism)
- On These Magic Shores by Yamile S. Méndez (MG magical realism)
- The Water Bears by Kim Baker (MG contemporary)
- The Dream Weaver by Reina Luz Alegre (MG contemporary)
- Efrén Divided by Ernesto Cisteros (MG contemporary)

Latinx-a-thon
I decided to participate in Latinx Book Bingo because it runs through to October 15 (coinciding with Latinx Heritage Month in the States). Since I’m visiting my family til the end of the month, reading is a low priority activity for September. But you might like to know that Latinx-a-thon is also taking place from September 15 to 24. Check out this thread for details.
Are you participating in either of these events? What are your favourite books by Latinx authors?
I love the cover of Into the Tall, Tall Grass and I’m hoping to read Three Keys real soon.
I think the physical copy of Into the Tall, Tall Grass has some shimmer to it?? I love those kind of covers, haha.
Totally feel you on the difficulty of getting new releases right now. I keep getting drawn in every time another blogger or bookstagrammer posts about one but I know it’ll be months before I’m able to access a library copy
Right! It reminds me how grateful I am for regular library services…
So glad you will be taking part in these readathons. Into the Tall, Tall Grass is one of my favorite MG’s ever. I hope you enjoy all these reads!
Thank-you! I’m really looking forward to that one.
