October 2022 Month In Review

Posted 1 November 2022 in month in review /6 Comments

October was a busy month for me! I had lots going on IRL – including my workplace avoiding going on strike four hours before strike deadline, and mountain bike rides every weekend to take advantage of the stunning autumn weather. I am starting to find some balance and routine in my days. Dare I say, I think I will crack more than four posts this month 😯

Books Finished

  • Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey
  • The Ogress and the Orphans by Kelly Barnhill
  • A Dragon Used to Live Here by Annette LeBlanc Cate
  • The Last Mapmaker by Christina Soontornvat
  • The Prince of Nowhere by Rochelle Hassan
  • The Tarnished Garden by Alyssa Colman
  • Tiger Honor by Yoon Ha Lee
  • Every Bird a Prince by Jenn Reese

  • Encouraged Cybils 2022 nominations by sharing middle grade speculative fiction titles yet to be nominated (nomination period has now ended)
  • Continued my bookshelves tour with adult fiction and non-fiction, fairy tales, and favourite YA and adult authors
  • Reviewed two spooky Canadian middle grade titles, Kenneth Oppel’s Ghostlight and Chad Lucas’ Let the Monster Out

  1. Oof glad you didn’t end up having a strike but that would’ve been stressful. My October was really good, we had lots of outings to check out new things in the city and enjoy the sun while we have it

    • Yeah, it was pretty stressful in the two days leading up to it because we kept getting mixed messages from the union vs employer about whether an agreement had been reached 🙃 (That was a screw up on the employer’s end.) But it would have been more stressful had we striked, for sure! Your October looked like a lovely month 😊
