July blogging saw a dry spell during which I kept busy reading Spinning Silver, followed by a week of being bored of doing the things I usually do. 😛 I’ve settled into a routine at my job where I plan three weekly programs (preschool storytime, elementary summer reading club, middle grade book club). Even though I’m bored at times, the weeks are going by quickly. I’ll be happy to return to my cozy apartment and my rice cooker and my bookcase and my couch.

Especially since, I think, "bad rep" and "rep that doesn’t reflect my experiences” often seemed to get mixed up. It’s 100% valid for readers to say “this rep doesn’t work for me,” but saying it’s BAD rep is sometimes questionable.

I finished Spinning Silver last night and now I have a book hangover like I haven't had in a long time – it could be months before I read another book as good! (TBH I expect Blanca & Roja to be my next excellent read).

Upcoming in August
- 7 Aug. – Publication of A Festival of Ghosts by William Alexander (sequel to A Properly Unhaunted Place)
- 28 Aug. – Publication of City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab (Although I like Schwab’s books more in theory than in reality, I’m more than willing to give her ghostly middle grade novel a shot.)
What books, or bookish events, are you looking forward to this month?
